LINDA'S STORY

Hi there!

Thank you so much for stopping by. My name is Linda, and I first wanted to become a personal trainer and wellness coach after sustaining a tibia plateau fracture in a car accident when I was 19. Growing up, I never really played sports or enjoyed physical activity all that much. After the accident, however, I found myself completely immobile for close to a year, being non-weight bearing for the first six months. I underwent several surgeries where the surgeons used both internal and external fixators to repair my leg, which was eventually reconstructed with titanium plates and screws.

After multiple procedures, medical bills, and pain medication, I discovered that my injury brought me to a crossroads. I could either follow the same path and do more of the same things I have been doing. Or I could choose the road not taken.

While lying helpless on my hospital bed in between surgeries at the Boston Medical Center (the same hospital I was born in) and wondering if I would ever be pain-free again, I asked the doctor if I would ever be able to run again. He said yes, but I didn’t believe him. Could I even just be able to go out for a long walk one day? After being homebound for nearly a year (my immobilized leg was as thin as my arm), could I ever physically return to how I was before this devastating injury? Would I ever be able to transcend it?

I chose the road not taken. I chose to learn and do everything I could in order to participate in my recovery. I walked with crutches, then a cane, and then finally I was wandering around the neighborhood with only a knee brace. I resumed going to a nearby health club that I joined months prior to my car accident, and I met with the club manager who provided me with plenty of workout insights. Then I met a group of older bodybuilders who took me under their wing. I worked on bodybuilding with them for six years.

During that time, this former high school dropout obtained her GED. Then she went on to obtain her personal training certification in 2002 and simultaneously registered for a college class at Curry College before graduating cum laude with a business management degree.

LINDA'S INSPIRATION

I am telling you this story not for sympathy, but because I want you to understand what my personal motivation was to get me to empower myself again. I needed to learn what steps I could take to help me heal quickly and completely. I needed to figure out how to become whole again. As I became increasingly encouraged by my friends and family, I received my Fitness Trainer Certification as a first step. Following this, I proceeded to become interested in the entire human body, which then inspired me to get a second certification in Health and Wellness.

For those of you unfamiliar with what a wellness coach does, allow me to offer a brief synopsis. Wellness coaches can be a personal trainer, nutritionist, or therapist. However, these three are not necessarily wellness coaches. The main difference between a wellness coach and other health practitioners is in the approach. As a wellness coach, you become an expert facilitator of mindset and behavior changes that generate sustainable, healthy lifestyles that foster general well-being, allowing your client to thrive.

I initially pursued these certificates for my own personal acknowledgment and education, but as I started learning more, I discovered an ability to teach and motivate others. My personal coaching style is centered on a holistic approach which, of course, includes nutrition.

Best Personal Trainer Linda

As a natural health specialist in fitness, functional nutrition, and mindset, my approach examines the whole person; mind, body, and soul. I believe that both exercise and food are medicine and I have seen this belief prove itself time and time again through the many successes of my clients. I myself have been a holistic personal trainer for over 20 years now. My passion is working with women and using exercise and nutrition to age in reverse, and I am a firm believer that exercise is medicine for the body. Plus, I am a little vain, I want to look good!

LINDA'S METHOD

My approach is guided by the five pillars of health (hormones, immunity, digestion, detox pathways, and good gut health). This holistic approach ensures healthy weight loss and lean muscle gains regardless of your body’s changes.

With expert guidance and care, I combine advanced clinical testing, dietary changes, rest, exercise, stress control, and supplements to uncover the root causes of your symptoms and support your optimal health and weight loss goals.

As an Empath/Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), I am attuned to the energies of others, which allows me to provide wellness insights during the jumpstart session that the client may not be conscious of (most of the time this is the barrier impeding their goal). During this session, we wellness coaches are taught to remove our expert hat and become a facilitator.

My evidence-based training was focused on positive psychology; the idea that people are inherently capable of solving any and all obstacles they may face. My job is to simply evaluate why they are there, what they want to accomplish, and how I, as a holistic practitioner, can effectively facilitate and improve their overall well-being in the process.

This is the mind-body-and-soul approach I use to help all of my clients achieve a happy and healthy lifestyle. This is what inspires me as a fitness and functional coach and why I am so very passionate about what I do. I am merely a co-creator of those life-changing ah-ha! moments, one client at a time. Contact to learn more about Linda as a personal trainer.
