Hi there, and welcome! I’m Linda Abel, the founder of Well Taken Care Of®, and I help people 35+ especially those navigating perimenopause, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, and chronic burnout reclaim energy, metabolism, and mental clarity using a root-cause approach to health.
But my journey into functional medicine and personal training started long before I ever ran a lab test or coached a client…
At 19, a devastating car accident left me with a tibial plateau fracture, multiple surgeries, and months of immobility. I was non-weight bearing for half a year and endured both internal and external fixators. Lying in a hospital bed at Boston Medical Center (the same hospital I was born in), I asked my doctor if I’d ever run again. He said yes but I didn’t believe him.
What followed was a defining moment in my life. I could continue down a familiar path… or take the road not taken. I chose the second.
With crutches, then a cane, and finally just a brace, I stepped into my recovery one painful stride at a time. I joined a gym. I met bodybuilders who mentored me. I got stronger.
Along the way, I earned my GED, then my personal training certification, then a college degree (cum laude, in Business Management). That recovery season ignited a fire to learn everything I could about healing first for myself, then for others.
As a natural health specialist, I take a whole-person approach mind, body, and soul. With over 20 years as a holistic personal trainer, I’ve seen firsthand how food and exercise truly are medicine. I’m passionate about helping women use movement and nutrition to age powerfully (and yes I like to look good doing it!).
My approach combines 20+ years of hands-on training experience with advanced certifications in functional health, wellness coaching, nutrition, muscle testing, and lab analysis. I integrate strength training, functional medicine, mindset work, and trauma-aware support to create real, sustainable transformation for my clients.
I serve wo(men) who are:
Perimenopausal or menopausal
Neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, Bipolar)
Highly sensitive, empathic, or healing from trauma
Struggling with fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, or autoimmune symptoms
Wanting to age powerfully, not passively
As an FDN-Certified Functional Practitioner, my five-pillar approach addresses:
Hormones
Immunity
Digestion
Detox pathways
Gut-brain health
I use lab testing, clinical strategy, movement, and emotional insight to help people rebuild health from the inside out. Clients say I help them feel seen, heard, and empowered for the first time in years.
Exercise and food are medicine.
Healing must include mind, body, and soul.
You don’t need to earn rest, nourishment, or care.
You’re not broken your body is trying to protect you.
I’m an empath and highly sensitive person. During our sessions especially the Clarity or Jumpstart call I often pick up on energetic barriers or unspoken patterns you may not be aware of. That intuitive guidance, paired with evidence-based science and functional testing, helps create your most aligned, customized path forward.
Whether your goal is fat loss, better sleep, mental clarity, fewer symptoms, or all of the above I’m here to walk beside you. I’m not just a coach I’m a co-creator of life-changing “aha” moments, one woman at a time.
You don’t have to white-knuckle your health journey. You don’t have to guess. You just need support that’s skilled, safe, and tailored to your life.

Anne Ingard2024-12-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'm a physical therapist who found Linda Abel on Next Door. I had been looking for a trainer who understood the concept of starting low and going slow with my patients who were frequently re-injuring themselves at the gym, overdoing, or not making progress because of under training. Linda is highly motivating and knows exactly the right amount of exercise to avoid injury and make steady gains. What drew me to Linda is her extensive knowledge of functional nutrition so that she could coach her clients in how to nourish their bodies, lose weight if needed while building muscle. Building muscle is impossible if the body is malnourished, protein deficient. Linda formulates actionable plans to correct nutritional deficiencies and then the strength building falls into place. Linda is passionate about her work and compassionate. She understands, from her own experience with a complicated fracture and 6 months in a wheel chair, what happens to the psyche after an injury and what it takes to recover in mind body and spirit. If you are ready to do the work to transform your physical health ( which can lead to improved mental health) Linda Abel is the trainer you need. Working with Linda (functional nutrition, personal training, and weight loss coaching) has improved my life in so many ways! I've lost 30 POUNDS, the pain and inflammation I was suffering from when I came to her is almost entirely gone, and I'm gaining muscle and losing fat at a healthy and sustainable rate. She's truly a joy to work with! Rick Devereux2024-10-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Linda Evdu has been a great find for me and my wife. We're 74 and lead active lives, but sought a personal trainer 6 months ago as we had become relatively deconditioned following an accident. We found Linda from our physical Therapist's referral. We've worked on balance, core and total body training. After the first couple of months of joint training with my wife at Well Taken Care of, I wished I had started this work with her 30;years earlier when back pain had started to be a chronic nuisance that yoga didn't entirely manage! She knows how and when to push me and the exercises work all the areas of the body! Jamie Labonosky2024-03-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been meeting with Linda weekly for personal training for the past several months. Every session is different and challenges me in a new way each week. I am a lifelong runner who really only loves to run and hence I have always skimped on strength training and balancing out with my other muscle groups. I knew this meant I was leaving myself more prone to injury which lead me to seeking out personal training. With Linda's guidance and encouragement I have noticed a remarkable increase in my overall strength, and have been really, finally enjoying strength training and the best part is my runs feels stronger and faster. Linda's workouts are no joke, I'm usually sore for 2 days after our sessions so I always feel like Ive gotten my moneys worth :-) She is a calm and deliberate presence and I have truly enjoyed having the opportunity to train with her! Kristin Lindstrom2024-02-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Linda is tough love personified. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has a graceful way of guiding me toward my goals. Her workouts are tough, but as she says, “we have goals”. She holds me accountable and pushes me past what I think I can do. She understands women and our bodies and I am grateful to have found her. I highly recommend working with Linda.
